Whether your card expired, you're switching to a different payment option, or you just want to update billing details, this guide covers managing payment methods in your VPS For Life account.
Step 1 — Log In to Your Client Area
Go to the VPS For Life Client Area and sign in.
Step 2 — Navigate to Payment Methods
Go to Billing → Payment Methods.
Step 3 — Add a New Payment Method
Click Add New Payment Method and enter the new card details, or link a new PayPal account — see How to Pay Your VPS Invoice with Credit or Debit Card and How to Pay for VPS Hosting with PayPal for the underlying setup process for each.
Step 4 — Set It as Default (If Using Auto-Renewal)
If you use automatic billing, mark the new payment method as default so future renewals charge the correct card — see How to Set Up Auto-Renewal and Avoid Service Interruption.
Step 5 — Remove the Old Payment Method (Optional)
Once you've confirmed the new method works (e.g. after the next successful renewal), you can remove the outdated one from your account.
Updating an Expired Card
If your existing card simply got a new expiration date/CVV (a reissued version of the same card), you'll typically need to add it as a new payment method rather than editing the existing entry, since most billing systems don't store full card numbers for editing — this is a standard PCI-DSS compliance practice, not a limitation specific to any one provider.
Switching from One Payment Type to Another
Moving from card to PayPal (or vice versa, or to cryptocurrency) works the same way — add the new method, set it as default if using auto-renewal, and optionally remove the old one. See How to Pay for VPS Hosting with Cryptocurrency (Bitcoin, USDT & More) if switching to crypto.
Common Errors
New payment method won't save — double-check the card details for typos, and confirm the billing address matches what's on file with your card issuer.
Old payment method still being charged despite adding a new one — verify the new method was actually set as default, not just added as an additional option.
FAQ
Is it safe to update my payment details online?
Yes — payment processing is handled through PCI-DSS compliant, encrypted connections; full card numbers aren't stored in plain text.
Can I have multiple payment methods on file at once?
Yes, most accounts support multiple saved methods, with one marked as the default for automatic billing.
