Why Traders Run a VPS Next to the Broker, Not at Home
An automated trading strategy running on a home internet connection is exposed to every interruption between the trader's router and the broker's server: ISP outages, Wi-Fi drops, a laptop going to sleep, a power cut. A VPS keeps the trading platform running in a datacenter with a stable connection, independent of what happens at the trader's physical location.
Where the Latency Actually Comes From
Round-trip latency between a trading platform and a broker's execution server is a function of physical distance and network path, not raw compute power. A server with a fast CPU but a poor network route to the broker will still execute slower than a modest server with a short, direct path.
