Forex VPS · Windows or Linux

Your strategy should not stop when your laptop does.

That is the actual reason to run MetaTrader on a server, and it is the one this page leads with. The other reason — latency to your broker — is real for some traders and wildly oversold by most hosts. We will tell you how to measure it rather than quote you a number we made up.

What a Forex VPS Actually Does for You

It moves your trading platform off a machine that can fail and onto one that is designed not to. An Expert Advisor running on your own computer is exposed to power cuts, forced restarts, a dropped home connection and simply closing the lid. In a datacenter those failure modes go away, and the platform keeps executing whether you are awake, travelling or asleep. The second benefit — sitting physically closer to your broker — is genuine for latency-sensitive strategies but depends entirely on where your particular broker keeps its servers. We give you 56 countries and the honest advice to measure it. What a VPS does not do is improve a strategy: it removes one category of failure, and nothing more.

  • Runs independently of your own computer, 24 hours a day.
  • Windows for native MetaTrader, Linux for your own code.
  • Dedicated IPv4 on every plan — a consistent address for broker-side checks.
  • 56 countries — choose the one nearest your broker and test it.
  • Full Administrator or root access — any EA, indicator or script.
  • Unmanaged — monitoring and restarts are yours to set up.

Four Reasons Traders Rent a Server

In order of how much they actually matter, which is not the order most hosts put them in.

  1. Your strategy stops when your laptop does This is the real reason traders rent a server, and it has nothing to do with speed. A power cut, a Windows update at 3am, a closed lid or a dropped home connection all end an Expert Advisor mid-position. A server in a datacenter has none of those failure modes. Uptime
  2. Distance to your broker — honestly Being physically closer to your broker's servers can reduce round-trip latency, and for some strategies that matters. But the gain depends entirely on your broker's actual server location and the network path between them, neither of which we control and neither of which we will guess at for you. Pick the datacenter nearest your broker and measure it yourself. All 56 locations → Maybe
  3. A consistent IP address Every plan includes one dedicated IPv4 address, so your platform connects from the same address every time. Some brokers take an interest in that; a residential connection whose address changes weekly does not offer it. Dedicated IPv4 → Yours
  4. No restrictions on what you run Full administrator or root access on every plan means no allowlist of approved Expert Advisors, indicators or custom scripts. Whatever your strategy needs installed, installs. Full root access → Yours

Which Plan Fits Your Setup

Chosen by what you are running, not by a tier name. Each row shows the cheapest plan in the catalogue that meets that requirement.

Which Plan Fits Your Setup
If this is you Cheapest plan that fits What it gives you Price
One platform, a few charts A single MetaTrader instance with a handful of charts and one or two Expert Advisors. Essential Budget VPS Classic VPS range 1 Core · 2 GB DDR3 RAM 20 GB HDD Storage $7.95/mo + $2.00 one-time setup
Several EAs, or MT4 and MT5 together Multiple terminals and several strategies running at once need real memory headroom. Business SSD VPS SSD VPS range 2 Cores · 4 GB DDR3 RAM 30 GB Enterprise SSD $14.95/mo + $0.00 one-time setup
Many charts, heavy indicators, backtesting Custom indicators and optimisation runs are CPU-bound in a way normal trading is not. Enterprise SSD VPS SSD VPS range 4 Cores · 8 GB DDR3 RAM 50 GB Enterprise SSD $24.95/mo + $0.00 one-time setup
Start at the row that describes you and move up only when you have seen a real limit — a terminal that is swapping, or an optimisation run that takes all night. Paying for headroom you never touch is the most common mistake in this category. How to tell which resource is your bottleneck →

Three Things We Will Not Tell You

This category is sold on claims that cannot be checked. These are the three we are refusing to make.

We will not quote you a latency figure

Any host advertising “1ms to your broker” without knowing who your broker is, is advertising a number they invented. Latency depends on your broker's server location, your chosen datacenter and the path between them. Choose the nearest location, run a ping test, and judge it on the measurement rather than the marketing.

A VPS does not improve a strategy

It removes one category of failure — your own machine — and nothing else. A strategy that loses money on your laptop loses money faster on a server that never sleeps. This is worth saying because this category is sold as though the server were the edge.

Nobody is watching it for you

Every plan is unmanaged. If MetaTrader crashes at 2am, it stays crashed until you look. Traders running unattended strategies should set up their own monitoring and auto-restart rather than assuming someone else is.
