That is why Windows starts at $7.95 rather than at the site's lowest advertised price, and an earlier version of this page got it wrong in both directions at once: it quoted $4.95 and described that plan's storage as NVMe when it is HDD. Give it more memory than you would give Linux
The desktop and its background services consume memory continuously whether or not anyone is connected. On a small plan that overhead is a large share of what you bought — so for the same job, size a Windows server a step above where you would put a Linux one.

A fresh Windows server with RDP exposed on the default port starts collecting login attempts within the hour. That is not alarmism, it is background noise on the public internet. Restrict RDP to your own address in the firewall, set a strong Administrator password, and consider changing the port. Plans are unmanaged, so nobody does this for you.
