Of the 16 providers checked here on 10 October 2026, 4 leave outbound port 25 open without a request: VPS For Life, Contabo, Hostinger and OVHcloud. Contabo documents a sending limit of about 25 emails per minute and Hostinger one of 5 per minute; OVHcloud can block the port if its anti-spam system detects spam. VPS For Life opens port 25 on every plan from deployment with no ticket, approval step or minimum account age.

Which VPS has port 25 open without identity verification?

Scaleway, UpCloud and IONOS tie port 25 to identity or account checks: Scaleway after KYC, UpCloud after proof of identity or a payment method, IONOS after hostname, rDNS and SPF checks by phone. Hetzner requires a month of account history first. VPS For Life opens port 25 from deployment with no ID or KYC step at any order value, and accepts Bitcoin and USDT.

What is the cheapest VPS with port 25 open?

Among the providers that leave port 25 open without asking, VPS For Life plans start at $4.95 a month with port 25 open on every plan. Contabo, Hostinger and OVHcloud publish their own prices; compare them alongside their sending limits, since a cheap plan capped at 5 emails a minute is not cheap per email.

Is there a free VPS with port 25 open?

Not among the big free tiers. AWS EC2 blocks port 25 to the internet by default, Google Cloud blocks it outside your VPC, Oracle Cloud blocks it on tenancies created after 23 June 2021, and UpCloud keeps it closed on free trials. Each needs a request or an exemption, and some cannot be unblocked at all.

How many emails can I send from a VPS with port 25 open?

It depends on the provider's cap and on your IP's reputation. Contabo documents about 25 emails per minute and Hostinger 5 per minute. Beyond provider caps, receiving providers such as Gmail and Outlook throttle new IPs, so volume has to be warmed up gradually.

Why do hosting providers block port 25 at all?

Because it is the port spam leaves on. A provider whose IP ranges get onto blocklists has a problem affecting every customer in that range, and blocking outbound port 25 by default is the cheapest way to prevent it. The cost is borne by legitimate senders, who then have to prove themselves before they can use a standard internet protocol.

Can I just use port 587 instead?

Only if you are sending through someone else's mail server. Port 587 is the submission port, where your client authenticates to a mail server. Port 25 is how mail servers deliver to each other. If you are running your own mail server and delivering directly to recipients, you need outbound 25 and nothing else will do.

Is an open port 25 enough to get email delivered?

No, and any provider implying otherwise is overselling. An open port means you can connect. Delivery also needs a dedicated IP with a clean history, reverse DNS matching your sending hostname, and correct SPF, DKIM and DMARC records. Getting those wrong puts you in spam folders with the port wide open.

The short answer

Most large hosting providers block outbound port 25 by default. Of the 16 checked here, 4 leave it open without you asking: VPS For Life, Contabo (about 25 emails a minute), Hostinger (5 emails a minute) and OVHcloud (subject to its anti-spam system). Scaleway lets you switch it on yourself after an identity check. Vultr, AWS, Linode, UpCloud, IONOS, STRATO and Oracle Cloud lift the block on request. Hetzner considers it case by case once your account is a month old. Azure opens it only on enterprise subscriptions, and DigitalOcean and Google Cloud publish no route to having it removed.

Why it is blocked: port 25 is the port spam leaves on, so providers block it to keep their IP ranges out of blocklists
Why it still matters: port 25 is how mail servers talk to each other. Ports 587 and 465 are for your client authenticating to a server — they are not a substitute for delivering mail yourself

Does Contabo allow port 25?

Yes. Contabo documents no outbound port 25 block, and its support knowledge base sets a sending limit of about 25 emails per minute; regularly sending above that may get the server throttled. That is roughly 1,500 emails an hour at most, so it suits a personal or small-business mail server rather than bulk sending. Source: Contabo support KB.

Does Hostinger allow port 25?

Yes, but slowly. Hostinger says it does not block port 25 on its VPS plans, and it caps sending at 5 emails per minute. If the port will not connect, check the managed VPS firewall in your own panel before contacting support. Source: Hostinger help.

Does OVHcloud allow port 25?

Yes, on standard VPS and dedicated servers. OVHcloud says outgoing port 25 is not blocked by default, but its anti-spam system can block it at network level if spam is detected from your IP, and unblocking means stopping your mail service and clearing the queue first. Does Scaleway allow port 25?

Not by default. Scaleway blocks ports 25, 465 and 587 on Instances, but once you have completed its identity verification (KYC) you can open them yourself by ticking "Enable SMTP" on the security group — no ticket needed. Source: Scaleway docs.

Does Vultr allow port 25?

Not by default. Vultr lists TCP port 25 as blocked by default, and its documentation says you can ask for the block to be removed by opening a support ticket. It does not publish the criteria support applies. Source: Vultr docs.

Does AWS EC2 allow port 25?

Not by default. Amazon EC2 allows outbound port 25 only to private addresses; traffic to public IPv4 and IPv6 addresses is blocked until you submit AWS's request to remove the restriction and it is approved. Source: AWS EC2 docs.

Sometimes. Akamai restricts ports 25, 465 and 587 on some Linode accounts created after 5 November 2019. To lift it you open a support request giving your name, the domains you will send from and a detailed description of your use case; support then approves it or asks for more.
